APPENDIX 2 - RULES OF CONDUCT
All Members will:
2.1 be at all times under the instruction and guidance of
the Pipe Major, or his appointed second, while on parade.
This includes practices and engagements.
2.2 wear the appropriate uniform (No.1, No.2, or
shirt-order) as required/supplied for any given parade.
This uniform will be clean, fully maintained, and worn
correctly. The Pipe Major, Drum Major and Sergeant NCOs are
responsible for ensuring this occurs, and Members are to
abide by any request from such Officers to adjust their
uniform as required.
2.3 endeavour to attend all practices and engagements of
the Band. Memos for absence should be received by the Pipe
Major, or his appointed second, in advance, where
attendance is not possible. In practical terms a 60%
turnout will be considered a minimum, except under
pre-advised conditions, eg. a long illness.
2.4 maintain their instruments and uniform to the highest
standards. Guidance on this may be sought from any Senior
NCO.
2.5 refrain from the use of foul, derogatory, antagonistic,
sexual or racial language, likely to cause offence, while
on parade. The highest standards are to be sought in this
respect.
2.6 sensibly limit any alcoholic intake before and while on
parade. Under no circumstances will drunken behaviour, or
an inability to play their instrument to their best
ability, be tolerated.
2.7 refrain from smoking while in the company of Junior
(under-18) Members of the Band.
2.8 refrain from any anti-social behaviour or physical
violence, while on parade.
“On parade” refers to any occasion where Members are
gathered for a common purpose, be that for practice, an
official engagement, or social reasons. The term is not
restricted to periods where uniform is being worn.
These Rules will apply even when appearing as a guest with
another band.
Failure to abide by any one or more of these Rules will
leave a Member open to consideration for expulsion by the
Committee, in accordance with Paragraph 4 of the
Constitution.
