It was way past a certain son's "home" time when said son arrives at his Edinburgh home and comes face to face with an angry father:

"Where have you been till this hour, out with that lassie again no doubt".
"Aye father", comes the reply.
"Well it had better not ha' cost much laddie".
"Dinna' fret father, the whole evening was just twa' poonds".
"No so bad then son, I canna' be upset at that."
"Gie' her a break dad, twas' all she had on her."
