Errata: It should be noted that Pipe Major Colin Opie took over the band as Pipe Major two years ago, not ten. Prior to this time the band was under Pipe Major Tom Reynolds. Since taking over Colin has made several changes to the band including raising standards by training and examination via the PDQB (Piping and Drumming Qualifications Board), and enhancing the website and general awareness of the band. This invitation trip to Passchendaele is a direct consequence of these overall improvements.

CITY PIPERS TO PLAY AT CEREMONY
Date : 6th July 2007

Exeter's only official group of pipers have been chosen to play at a prestigious event to commemorate soldiers who lost their lives in a First World War battle.

Those who fought at Passchendaele in 1917 will be honoured for the first time when a memorial to them and all Scots who fought on the Western Front is opened in Belgium on August 25.

To mark the occasion, the finest pipers and drummers in the country will be travelling to Belgium to take part in a special tattoo, organised to coincide with the 90th anniversary of the battle.
