Joining us...

We are a friendly band currently re-organising under our relatively new Pipe Major, Colin Opie. A good core of players exist but it is our intention to try and double the size of the band over the next two or three years/seasons. This will enable a certain level of "redundancy" in the band, where people will not feel obliged to turn up at every event we play at. Most if not all players in the band are very busy people, and 100% committment is rarely possible, 60-70% attendance being the normally expected level. Even that takes considerable time and effort to achieve, so a high level of involvement is still needed. A quick look at our activities, plus the weekly practices, will give you an idea. But if you think you can offer this, and would like to play with equally enthusiastic people, give us a call.

Learners:

There are currently places available for pipers only. Piping novices would benefit from having basic musical knowledge, perhaps with the ability to play another instrument, particularly woodwind. However, it is not essential. Age range about 10 to adult.

Pipers will be taken through our own Piper Training Program, which is aligned with the Piping and Drumming Qualifications Board (PDQB), previously Institute of Piping, examinations.

We hope to be able to offer drum training some time in the future. Similarly, drummers would go through the drumming syllabi of the PDQB.
